Hi @Corinna Fosmo,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
From the information you provided, I understand you are marking files as Favorites and would like one place to view and open them quickly, and I truly appreciate the time you have invested trying to streamline your workflow.
Teams stores channel files in SharePoint and chat files in OneDrive. The star for Favorites is part of the OneDrive experience, therefore your starred items are gathered under Favorites in OneDrive rather than as a separate list within each team. In Teams, you can open the OneDrive app to see one unified Favorites list, and you can also promote key files inside each channel for immediate access.
Please try these steps below that tailored to your situation:
1/ View all Favorites inside Teams using the OneDrive app
- In Teams, open OneDrive from the left navigation. If you do not see it, select Apps, search for OneDrive, and open it.
- In OneDrive within Teams, select Favorites in the left pane to see every file you starred across teams and chats.
- Open any file directly, use the search box or sorting to find items faster, and remove from Favorites if needed.
2/ Pin your most used files at the top of a channel for one click access
- Go to the team channel, open the Files tab, select the file, and choose Pin to top so it appears as a tile at the top of the Files tab.
- To open a single file even faster, add it as a tab. Select the plus icon at the top of the channel, choose the relevant app such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint or SharePoint, and then select your file.
- Repeat for a small set of high value files so that everyone in the channel can reach them immediately.
3/ Create a desktop level shortcut path for faster navigation
- In the channel Files tab, select Open in SharePoint, then choose the folder you use most and select Add shortcut to OneDrive.
- Open OneDrive in your browser or desktop app and you will see that team folder listed under your OneDrive. You can star specific files so they appear under Favorites.
- If you use OneDrive sync on Windows or macOS, open your OneDrive folder in File Explorer or Finder, locate the shortcut folder, and add it to Quick access or Favorites for a two-step path from your desktop.
If a dedicated Favorites list per team would better fit your workflow, I can submit this as product feedback on your behalf. Please let me know which option you try first, and I will be glad to assist further or walk you through any step live.
I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If you have any updates regarding the issue, please feel free to share them with me.
Thank you for your patience and your understanding. I look forward to continuing the conversation.
