My new Outlook account was blocked

I have tried to verify my account, but it requires me to list previous passwords, and this is a brand-new account.

It has only had one password associated with it since I created it.  Please tell me what else I can do to restore it.

My business has ground to a halt thanks to this.

Please help me.

    Dear @Mark Williams,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum!

First of all, I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this, I can fully understand how stressful and disruptive it must be, especially when your business work depends on email access.

I noticed that you selected the “For business” tag, so I wanted to clarify something important to make sure we’re going in the right direction:

1.If this Outlook account is a business (work or school) account, for example, an account provided by your organization and managed under Microsoft 365 (with a domain like @yourcompany.com or @yourcompany.onmicrosoft.com), then it is not recovered through the consumer Microsoft account verification process. In that case, the correct next step would be to contact your organization’s IT administrator, who can reset the password or unblock the account directly from the admin center. 2.On the other hand, if this is a personal Microsoft account (with domain such as @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com...), then the automated Microsoft account recovery process is unfortunately the only supported path. In that scenario, the verification experience you’re seeing can be confusing for newly created accounts, but it’s handled entirely by Microsoft’s account security system and isn’t something that can be bypassed or manually overridden from this Microsoft Q&A forum. Please see: Help with the Microsoft account recovery form

In this situation, please kindly confirm which type of account that you are using, if it is truly business account, you should contact your IT administrator as my first suggestion above. Moreover, in case that you are the global administrator, and your Outlook account was locked out, please kindly confirm it for me as well.

Note: As a Microsoft Q&A moderator, my role is to guide discussions and connect users with helpful resources. While I don’t have the right to access to individual account or your environment in order to reset password due to security protocols. However, I still try my best to support you using the resources available. So, please take a look in my suggestions and follow them.

    Wish you a pleasant day!
