When I renewed, I didn't use the renewal link and I didn't realize it had the wrong email address.

    Hi @Irene Martinez,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out. I understand how confusing it can be when a subscription renewal ends up linked to the wrong email address, especially if the renewal wasn’t completed through the original link.

It really depends on which “email address” you’re referring to in your Microsoft 365 subscription. Please choose the scenario that fits your situation and follow the steps provided:

Scenario 1: Updating the billing or contact email (for invoices & renewal notices)

If your invoices, renewal confirmations, or billing alerts are being sent to the wrong email address, you can update the billing contact in the Admin Center:

    • Go to Billing > Billing notifications.
    • Under Organization contact receiving billing notifications, select Email address.
    • Enter the correct email > Save.

To update the email in your billing profile / sold‑to address:

    • Go to Billing > Billing accounts and select the correct billing account.
    • Under Sold-to address, choose Edit.
    • Update the Email address for the organization’s billing contact > Save.

    Reference: Edit your organization's information.

Scenario 2: Updating the sign‑in email (user login / primary mailbox)

If the renewal applied to your organization correctly but a specific user’s sign‑in or primary email address is incorrect:

    • Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center > Users > Active users.
    • Select the user.
    • Choose Manage username and email.
    • Update the Username / Primary email > Save changes.

Note: If you still want to receive messages sent to the previous email address, you can add it as an alias in the same Manage username and email section.

Scenario 3: If you need to change other information

If the customer needs to update other details, such as their region, please create a support ticket for the Billing team by following the steps in the guidance to create a support ticket: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin. Some types of information cannot be changed directly by the customer.

Note: We truly appreciate your understanding as we do our best to support you here. Please note that our ability to assist with billing-related issues in this forum is limited, as we don’t have access to the secure, account-specific tools needed to make changes to payment methods or view subscription details.

I hope this information helps. Please try the steps and let me know whether they resolve the issue. If the problem persists, we can work together to find a solution.

As other users will also search for information in this community, your vote can significantly help those with similar inquiries quickly locate the most relevant resources.

Thank you for your kindness and for contributing to the forum.

To update your email address in your subscription, you will need to follow these steps:

    1. Sign in to the admin portal with your current email address.
    2. Select Manage subscribers.
    3. For subscriptions listed individually, you can use the bulk add feature to update all your subscribers easily. If your subscription is assigned to members of a Microsoft Entra group, their subscriptions will automatically update when their email addresses are updated in the group.
    4. Ensure that you do not delete your current email address until the new one is active to avoid any access issues.

If you are not an admin, you will need to ask a super admin to perform these changes for you.
