    Hi Mahnaz Ghafoori

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum and for sharing your experience.

I understand how frustrating it can be when recorded videos lag during a presentation.

On PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 on macOS, video lag during recording is often related to performance, media compatibility, or the app version. To help narrow this down, please start by confirming that PowerPoint is fully up to date, as recent builds include fixes and improvements related to recording and media performance.

Next, close any unnecessary background applications before recording, such as web browsers, video calls, or other screen‑recording tools, since video recording in PowerPoint can be resource‑intensive on macOS.

If the issue persists, try creating a new, blank presentation and record a short test video there. This can help determine whether the lag is related to the presentation file itself, for example due to large media files, animations, or effects.

If your presentation already contains videos, also make sure they are using a supported and optimized format, such as MP4 with H.264 encoding. Optimizing or compressing media can help improve performance and reduce lag.

If you’re still experiencing the issue, please share your PowerPoint version, macOS version, and whether the lag occurs in all presentations or only a specific one.

Note: Please follow the steps in our documentation to enable e-mail notifications if you want to receive the related email notification for this thread.

To address video lag issues in PowerPoint, consider the following steps:

    1. Check Hardware Acceleration: Sometimes, hardware acceleration can cause performance issues. You can disable it by going to PowerPoint Options > Advanced > Display and checking the box for "Disable hardware acceleration".
    2. Update Video Drivers: Ensure that your video card drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can lead to performance problems, including video lag.
    3. Optimize Video Format: Make sure that the video format you are using is compatible with PowerPoint. Using a format that PowerPoint handles well can improve playback performance.
    4. Reduce Video Resolution: If the video file is high resolution, consider reducing its resolution before inserting it into PowerPoint. This can help reduce lag during playback.
    5. Check System Resources: Ensure that your system has enough resources available (CPU, RAM) when running PowerPoint. Closing other applications can free up resources.
    6. Use the Latest Version of PowerPoint: Ensure that you are using the latest version of PowerPoint, as updates often include performance improvements and bug fixes.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to consider troubleshooting further based on the specific symptoms you are experiencing.
