I am a Japanese writer living and working in US. I use iMac/MacAir and subscribe 365 personal (US version).

I have set a Japanese as a second language in "System Setting", and use it when I write in Japanese. When I try to set up the Japanese Layout and View in Word, it does not work.

Can I purchase Microsoft 365 in Japanese version and install it while keeping 365 personal (Us version) as well?

Thank you.

In Finder go to Help> Mac User Guide in the menu bar then enter the search term UI language.

Hello, good day and thanks for your question. To add to the above, have you restarted or closed and then re-opened Word after making such change/s? You can also see the links below as a reference.

To purchase and install the Microsoft Office Japanese version on your Mac while keeping your current Microsoft 365 Personal (US version), you can follow these steps:

    1. Purchase the Japanese Version: You can buy a subscription to Microsoft 365 in Japanese through the Microsoft website or authorized retailers that offer the Japanese version. Ensure that you select the correct language during the purchase process.
    2. Install the Japanese Version: After purchasing, you will receive instructions on how to download and install the software. You can install it on your Mac, and it should coexist with your existing US version of Microsoft 365.
    3. Language Settings: Once installed, you can set the language preferences in Word to Japanese. Go to Word Preferences > Language, and select Japanese as your preferred language for editing and display.
    4. Using Multiple Versions: Having both versions installed should not cause any issues, but you may need to manage which version you are using based on your needs.

If you encounter any issues with the installation or language settings, you may want to refer to support resources for troubleshooting.
