    Hi @Yasmin Teran Salazar

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on the details you shared that your work email is being recognized as a personal Microsoft account, which is preventing access to Microsoft 365 business features. I truly appreciate your patience and the effort you have already made to address this.

Typically, this occurs when a personal Microsoft account was created with the same email address that your organization also uses for a work or school account in Microsoft Entra ID. In that case, the sign in experience can direct you to the personal account, and the services then treat you as a consumer. As a result, business licenses and apps do not appear even though you enter your work email.

Please follow the advanced steps below in order. This approach is designed to suit your situation and make the path to the correct work profile clear:

1/ Correct the sign in path and clear cached credentials

    • First, sign out of all Microsoft websites and every Office app on all devices.
    • Next, close all browsers, open a new InPrivate or private window, and go to https://login.microsoftonline.com. Enter your email, and when prompted to choose an account type, select Work or school account.
    • Then, on Windows, open Control Panel, select Credential Manager, choose Windows Credentials, and remove entries that mention Office, MicrosoftOffice, ADAL, or your email address.
    • After that, open Settings, select Accounts, then Access work or school, and disconnect any connection that shows as personal for this email. Restart the device, reopen an Office app, and sign in with the work account.

2/ Separate the personal Microsoft account from your work email

    • Go to https://account.live.com/names/Manage and add a new Outlook alias for the personal account.
    • Set that new alias as the primary sign in for the personal account. Then remove your work email from the personal account so it is used only for work.
    • Ask your Microsoft 365 administrator to confirm that your work account exists and has an assigned business license. After confirmation, sign in to https://portal.office.com using the work account only.

3/ Reactivate Office apps and services with the work profile

    • Open any Office app, select File, then Account, and choose Sign out of all accounts.
    • Select Sign in or Switch account and enter your work account. Wait until the subscription shows as Microsoft 365 for business.
    • On mobile, remove the account in the Outlook or Microsoft 365 app, then add the work account again and grant access to work or school data.

If you encounter any specific prompts or error messages, a screenshot and the time of the attempt will help me guide you more quickly.

I hope this response has helped address your question and clarify the behavior you're experiencing. Please feel free to reply if you have any further questions, I would be happy to assist further.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. I look forward to continuing the conversation.

To resolve the issue of your work account being recognized as a personal account, you can try the following steps:

    1. Confirm Account Type: Ensure that you are using the correct credentials to sign in. Sometimes, work and personal accounts can have similar email addresses, which can lead to confusion. Make sure you are using your work or school account when signing in to Microsoft 365.
    2. Sign Out and Sign Back In: Open a Microsoft 365 app (like Word), select your name or profile picture at the top, sign out, and then sign back in using your work or school account. This can help refresh your account settings.
    3. Check for Licensing Issues: If you're signed in with your work account but still facing issues, check with your Microsoft 365 administrator to ensure that you have the correct license assigned to your account.
    4. Rename Personal Account: If your corporate email is linked to a personal Microsoft account, consider renaming your personal account to avoid conflicts. This can help in ensuring that your work account is recognized correctly.
    5. Contact Support: If the problem persists, you may need to reach out to your organization's IT support or the Microsoft 365 Data Protection team for further assistance.

These steps should help you in resolving the confusion between your work and personal accounts, allowing you to access Microsoft 365 and other business features properly.
