When I click on certain emails office keeps closing and restarting. I can't ever open the email. I have started in safe mode and it still closes after opening an email.

It doesn't crash when I access my emial online. It only crashed on the downloaded version on my computer.

This indicates that the installation, specifically the installation of the classic version of Outlook, is the problem here—or files used by Outlook.

General troubleshooting for Outlook can be found at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshoot-outlook-for-windows-issues-241bb0fc-b201-4bb2-98d3-74750a27029e#id0ebbf=classic_outlook . You stated you tried some troubleshooting techniques already, but maybe not all of them.

Is your mail program the classic version of Outlook or some other program?

Is the e-mail account a Microsoft business e-mail? Or outlook.com? Or something else? Can you access the e-mails through the web interface?

    Dear @Shari Neigum,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum. I am happy to assist you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide more detailed information about the problem you are experiencing? For example, which Office application(s) are affected, and does the problem occur on Windows, macOS?

In the meantime, if you are using Windows, you may try creating a new Windows user profile to check whether the issue persists under a fresh environment. This can help determine whether the problem is related to your current Windows profile.

You can follow the instructions under "Add the user account" in this link to create a new Windows profile: Manage User Accounts in Windows

Providing these details will enable me to offer the most accurate next steps and, if necessary, route your request to the appropriate team for further assistance. Looking forward to your response so we can assist you further!

If Office LTSC 2024 is closing when you click on certain emails, it may be related to a known issue with Outlook. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Create a New Outlook Profile: Sometimes, issues with the email profile can cause Outlook to crash. You can create a new profile by going to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles > Add. Follow the prompts to set up a new profile and see if the issue persists.
    2. Repair Office: You can try repairing your Office installation. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select your Office installation, and choose "Change" to access the repair options.
    3. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Office applications are up to date. Sometimes, updates can resolve stability issues.
    4. Uninstall Recent Updates: If the issue started after a recent update, consider uninstalling that update. You can do this by going to Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall Updates.
    5. Run Outlook in Safe Mode: Since you mentioned you've already tried this, ensure that no add-ins are causing the issue. You can disable add-ins by going to File > Options > Add-ins, and then manage COM Add-ins.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to look into specific error messages or logs for further diagnosis.
