In December 2025, January 2026, and February 2026, I downloaded and installed the Windows 11 security updates. In December, the 2025-12 Security Update (KB5072033) (26200.7462), in January, the 2026-01 Security Update (KB5074109) (26200.7623), and in February, the 2026-02 Security Update (KB5077181) (26200.7840). Each time (in December, January, and February), the download and installation was successful (completed). However, afterward, Windows Update found the same security update again and downloaded and installed it again. Then, the installation failed. This has been happening for three months in a row now. I think this is why I haven't had the correct security updates on my laptop for three months now. By the way, I've had my laptop, including Windows 11, since last November. So it's a relatively new system. What should I do? Thanks in advance for your reply. Best regards, Piet van Leuveren.

It seems you are experiencing a recurring issue with Windows Update where the same security updates are being downloaded and installed repeatedly, but the installation fails. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

    1. Run Windows Update Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Windows Update. Run the troubleshooter and follow the prompts.
    2. Check for Corrupted System Files: Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command sfc /scannow. This will scan for and attempt to repair any corrupted system files.
    3. Clear Windows Update Cache: Stop the Windows Update service, delete the contents of the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder, and then restart the service. This can help resolve issues with stuck updates.
    4. Manually Install Updates: If the updates continue to fail, you can manually download and install them from the Microsoft Update Catalog by searching for the KB numbers (e.g., KB5072033, KB5074109, KB5077181).
    5. Check for Known Issues: Sometimes, specific updates may have known issues that Microsoft is addressing. Check the Windows release health page for any notifications related to the updates you are trying to install.
    6. Update Device Drivers: Ensure that all your device drivers are up to date, as outdated drivers can sometimes cause installation issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.
