A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
Hello David Fox,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!
I understand that you are having issue with moving an inserted graph to a "new Sheet". I truly understand how you feel. Let me assist you go through this situation.
Here is my suggestion for you:
Workaround 1 (Recommended): Move as an object instead
- Select the chart
- Go to Chart Design > Move Chart
- Choose Object in
- Select an existing worksheet (or create one first)
- Click OK
This works because Excel is not creating a Chart Sheet, which is where the freeze occurs.
Workaround 2: Copy & paste instead of “Move Chart”
This is functionally safe (though not identical to a chart sheet):
- Click the chart
- Press Ctrl+C
- Create a new worksheet
- Press Ctrl+V
Workaround 3: Test in Excel Safe Mode
This helps confirm whether an add‑in or driver interaction is involved.
- Press Win + R
- Type: excel /safe
- Insert a chart
- Try Move Chart > New Sheet
I hope this will help with your situation. Please feel free to reach back if you have further update or more questions.
Best Regards,
