Is there any way to move a link button in a quick links section into another so you dont have to rebuild the entire thing from scratch? - It seems like a pretty basic drag and drop ask however it appears that you can only move them within a quick links section and not between sections.

Its so time consuming and fiddly.

If you cannot presently do I I suggest this as an added functionality soonest. thanks.

    Dear @CvR,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft 365 Q&A forum. I completely understand how frustrating it is when a seemingly simple task like dragging a link between two sections isn't supported. It can feel incredibly time-consuming to manually recreate links, especially when you are trying to organize a complex SharePoint page.

I have investigated this for you, and currently, SharePoint Online does not support dragging and dropping Quick Links between two different web parts. You can only reorder links within the same section.

Since there isn't a "move" button yet, I have outlined the most efficient workaround and the exact steps to ensure your feedback reaches the Microsoft engineering team.

While you cannot "drag" the link to a new section, you can avoid "rebuilding from scratch" by using the Copy Link feature:

    1. On the SharePoint Home Edit Page (Home > Edit), select the Circled + icon to add a new web part, as shown below.  User's image
    2. Now, select the Quick links web part under the Text, media, and content section, as shown below.  User's image
    3. Click on the Quick Link you want to move and copy the URL from the property pane.
    4. Go to the target Quick Links section, click + Add links, and paste the URL.
    5. Delete the original link from the first section once the new one is confirmed.

Your suggestion for cross-section drags-and-drop functionality is a valid usability concern. To ensure your voice reaches the product developers, please use the official Microsoft Feedback Portal.

Here is how to do it:

    1. Visit the Portal: Go to Ideas · Community
    2. Submit your idea: Click on "Send Feedback" and describe the issue (e.g., "Add ability to drag and drop Quick Links between different web parts").
    3. Be Detailed: Mention that recreating links manually is "time-consuming and fiddly," as you described.
    4. Upvote: Search for similar "Quick Links" suggestions and upvote them; Microsoft prioritizes features based on the number of votes.

Please note that as community moderators, we cannot change the product design directly, but submitting your request through this portal is the most effective way to influence future SharePoint updates.

I hope this clarifies the current situation and makes it easier for you to articulate your request. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Currently, in SharePoint, it is not possible to move a link button from one Quick Links section to another using drag and drop functionality. You can only move link buttons within the same Quick Links section. This limitation can indeed make the process time-consuming if you need to reorganize links across different sections.

If this feature is important to you, providing feedback to Microsoft for consideration in future updates could be beneficial.
