Having problems getting a verification code in my Authenticator app. All that is displayed is a one-time passcode that doesn’t seem to work for 2-step verification.

If you're having trouble getting a verification code in your Microsoft Authenticator app, it could be due to a few reasons. One common issue is that the time settings on your device may be out of sync, which can cause the one-time passcode (OTP) to be invalid. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this:

    1. Check the Clock Settings: Ensure that the clock on your mobile device is set correctly. If the time is off, it can lead to invalid codes. You may need to disable the "Set Time Automatically" option to adjust the time manually.
    2. Sync Time: Make sure the time on your computer (if you're using it to log in) and your mobile device are synchronized. If they differ by a few minutes, it can cause the OTP to be rejected.
    3. Try a New Code: After ensuring that both devices' clocks are in sync, generate a new one-time code in the Authenticator app and try using it again for your 2-step verification.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to contact Microsoft support for further assistance, especially if you are locked out of your account due to authentication issues.
