Extremely Frustrated with Microsoft Store Game Download Issues

I am extremely frustrated with the download speed issues on the Microsoft Store and Xbox app. This has been a very disappointing experience.

I have already tried everything on my end, including:

Changing my network DNS

Setting high priority for Microsoft Store and related tasks

Repairing and resetting the Microsoft Store

  • Repairing and resetting the Xbox app
  • Clearing caches, and scanning for file integrity issues.

Adjusting Delivery Optimization settings

Checking and confirming my internet speed (which works perfectly on all other platforms)

Despite all this, the issue remains.

What is surprising is that free game downloads work smoothly at full speed, but Game Pass and Xbox-related downloads are extremely slow. As a paying customer, this feels unfair and unreliable.

I expect a proper technical explanation and a real solution, not generic troubleshooting steps I have already completed. If this cannot be resolved, please let me know upfront, so that I can reconsider continuing with Windows products and Game Pass. I expect a proper technical explanation and a real solution.

    Hi pritesh kumawat

    Thanks for sharing this!

Really appreciate you taking the time to explain the root cause and what actually worked. Your insight about the network routing issue and using Cloudflare WARP will definitely help others who run into the same Microsoft Store or Xbox download problem.

We value your contribution to the Microsoft Q&A Forum greatly!

I found the root cause and the solution myself.
The issue is not related to Windows or the Microsoft Store at all, it’s a network routing problem. Changing Windows settings, repairing apps, or resetting services does not fix it.
The solution that worked for me was using Cloudflare WARP (1.1.1.1), which optimizes the routing path.
After enabling WARP, the download speed became stable and consistent without the 0 MB/s drops. So if you’re facing similar Microsoft Store or Xbox download issues, try Cloudflare WARP before troubleshooting Windows.
