The cct camera needs an XML file for activation.

However Hotmail delivers a HTML file, which the camera cannot open

    Hi giuseppe m,

Good day. I'm Jhun an independent advisor. In regards with your XML - HTML downloaded file issue, this usually happens because Hotmail is previewing the XML as web page, an HTML format. Here's some steps on how you can download it as XML file.

    A. Download the file properly.

    1. Open the email in Outlook.com (Hotmail).
    2. Look at the attachment.
    3. Do NOT click the file name directly (that opens it as HTML).
    4. Instead, click the Download button (or the small down arrow).
    5. Choose Download, not “Open”.
    6. After downloading: Go to your Downloads folder, make sure the file ends in: filename.xml
    7. If it says: filename.xml.html or filename.html, then it was saved incorrectly.

    B. Rename the file extension. If the file downloaded as HTML.

    1. Open your Downloads folder.
    2. Click View.
    3. Enable File name extensions.
    4. Right-click the file → Rename
    5. Change: filename.html to filename.xml
    6. Press Enter > Click Yes to confirm.
    7. Now try loading it into your CCTV camera again.

    C. Use “Save As” from browser.

    1. If Outlook keeps forcing HTML, Open the attachment.
    2. Right-click anywhere on the page.
    3. Choose Save As.
    4. In file type dropdown, select: All Files (.)
    5. Manually type: activation.xml
    6. Save.

    D. Ask sender to ZIP the XML file then attach to mail as ZIP. attached ZIP or compressed files cannot be converted by Outlook when downloaded.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Jhun

To obtain an XML file instead of an HTML file from Hotmail (Outlook.com), you may need to ensure that the file is being sent in the correct format. Here are some steps you can take:

    1. Check the File Format: Make sure that the file you are trying to send is saved as an XML file (.xml) before attaching it to your email.
    2. Use a Different Email Client: If Hotmail is converting your XML file to HTML, consider using another email service or client that does not alter the file format when sending.
    3. Compress the XML File: If the email service continues to convert the file, you can compress the XML file into a .zip file before sending it. This way, the recipient can extract the XML file from the compressed folder.
    4. Change Mailbox Policy: If you have control over the mailbox policy, you can adjust it to allow XML files as attachments. This may involve using PowerShell commands to modify the allowed file types in Outlook on the web. However, be cautious as this may expose your system to security risks.

By following these steps, you should be able to send the XML file without it being converted to HTML.
