Hello there!

Just got myself a Surface Laptop 5, and its my first time using Windows 11.

But right off the bat, i can't see the battery remaining time when i hover the mouse on the battery icon.

Also on the power settings there is nothing to toggle to bring it back. And in the same settings, i cant find anywhere i can check the time remaining, but instead only get the %

    Hi,

    Welcome to Windows Family!

I am afraid the time remaining varies widely, so it may give an inaccurate time remaining. Instead, Microsoft came up with the Battery level percentage directly on the Taskbar.

If you still wish to show the time remaining, the following should help.

    In the Windows search,

Type cmd, right-click it, and choose Run as Administrator.

    • Execute the following commands exactly as written:
    reg delete "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power" /v EnergyEstimationDisabled /f

    reg delete "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power" /v UserBatteryDischargeEstimator /f

    reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power" /v EnergyEstimationEnabled /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

    • Restart the computer to apply the change.

I hope this information helps. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

Otherwise, please take a moment to rate the answer. Wishing you good luck!

In Windows 11, the battery remaining time may not always be displayed when you hover over the battery icon, as it can depend on the specific device and its settings. However, you can check the battery percentage and other details in the Battery Saver settings. If the estimated time remaining is not showing, it might be due to the system not being able to calculate it accurately based on current usage patterns or settings.

To ensure you have the latest updates and features, make sure your Windows 11 is fully updated. If the issue persists, consider checking for any specific Surface Laptop 5 updates or drivers that might address this functionality.
