I have several machines on my MS365 account, which is a family account. However a machine I built a year ago never shows up. So four of five machines are listed but nothing I do will allow the fifth to show up. Three of the four that are listed are Microsoft hardware. One is a PC I built myself. The one that does not show up is also one I built myself.

    Hello Val Peterson,

Thank you for reaching out in Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand you’re trying to add your self‑built PC to your Microsoft 365 account but it never appears while the others do.

For a device to show up on the Microsoft account page, the Windows sign‑in on that PC must use the same Microsoft account that holds the subscription. If the PC was set up with a local account or a different Microsoft account, the device will not register. The machine also needs to have Windows activated and be signed in to the Microsoft Store with the same account. If any of these are different, the device list will not update. If all conditions are correct and the PC still does not appear, there is unfortunately no additional action available from the user side.

    Hope this helps.

If a machine you built is not showing up in your Microsoft 365 account, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can consider:

    1. Check Device Registration: Ensure that the device is properly registered with your Microsoft account. You can do this by signing in to your Microsoft account on the device and checking if it is linked.
    2. Sign In with the Correct Account: Make sure you are signed in with the same Microsoft account that you use for your family account. Sometimes, devices may be registered under a different account.
    3. Update Windows: Ensure that the Windows operating system on the machine is up to date. Sometimes, pending updates can affect device registration.
    4. Check for Multiple Users: If the machine is shared or used by multiple users, it might be registered under a different user account.
    5. Reboot the Device: Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve issues with device recognition.

If none of these steps work, you might want to contact Microsoft support for further assistance, as they can help you troubleshoot the issue more effectively.
