MFA - Authenticator HELP

I’m completely stuck in a loop and honestly at my wit’s end.

I recently changed my phone and then my laptop broke. To regain access to my account, I need the authenticator app. But to access the authenticator, I need a code from… the authenticator. I’m just going round in circles.

I raised a support case and missed the callback this morning by seconds. Now when I try to call back, I’m told to check the case status online — which of course requires me to log in… using the authenticator I can’t access.

It’s an impossible situation and incredibly frustrating. Could someone please help me regain access or escalate this? I’m happy to provide any verification needed.

Thank you.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble.

If you're unable to start a new call back for the issue then please try starting an online chat via https://support.microsoft.com and click on Contact Us. Once you get to a person explain the issue to them and they should be able to help you out.

It sounds like you're experiencing a common issue with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) after changing devices. Here are some steps you can take to regain access to your account:

    1. Contact Microsoft Support: Since you are in a loop and unable to access your account, it's crucial to reach out to Microsoft Support directly. You can explain your situation and request to escalate the case to the Data Protection team. They have the tools to help verify your identity and reset your MFA settings.
    2. Use a Temporary Account: If you cannot reach support, consider creating a new Microsoft 365 trial tenant. This will allow you to access the admin console and submit a support ticket regarding your locked account. When you submit the ticket, clearly state that you are locked out of your original account and provide all necessary details.
    3. Alternative Verification Methods: If you have any alternative methods of verification set up (like SMS or email), try using those to log in instead of the Authenticator app.
    4. Ask for Help from Another Admin: If there are other administrators in your organization, ask them to reset your MFA settings through the Microsoft Entra Admin Center.

These steps should help you navigate the situation and regain access to your account. If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to Microsoft Support again.
