Microsoft Authenticator Push Not Showing When Switching Azure Directories

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue when trying to switch directories in the Azure Portal.

When I attempt to switch from the main directory to a sub-directory, the authentication number/code appears on my laptop screen, but the approval prompt does not show up in the Microsoft Authenticator app on my phone.

I have already:

Confirmed my mobile device is added for MFA

Removed and re-added the device

Ensured notifications are enabled

Despite this, I can only access the main directory. The issue occurs specifically when switching to sub-directories. There is no error message the authentication prompt simply does not appear on my phone.

Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what could be causing this?

Thanks in advance.

It seems you are experiencing issues with the Microsoft Authenticator app not showing the approval prompt when switching directories in the Azure Portal. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can consider:

    1. Check Notification Settings: Ensure that notifications for the Microsoft Authenticator app are enabled on your mobile device. Sometimes, even if notifications are enabled, they may be blocked by the device settings or a third-party app.
    2. Use Verification Codes: If the push notifications are not working, you can use the verification codes generated by the Microsoft Authenticator app as an alternative method for authentication.
    3. Check for Multiple Accounts: If you have multiple accounts set up in the Authenticator app, ensure that you are selecting the correct account associated with the sub-directory you are trying to access.
    4. Network Connection: Ensure that your mobile device has a stable internet connection, as this can affect the delivery of notifications.
    5. Reinstall the App: If the issue persists, consider uninstalling and reinstalling the Microsoft Authenticator app to reset its settings.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be beneficial to reach out to Microsoft support for further assistance.
