Trouble with password recovery process.

I recently opened a Microsoft Outlook email domain, ******@outlook.com. I am unfortunately unable to provide the correct password to log into this domain after a computer update logged me out of all of my Microsoft products. I have attempted to complete the password recovery process, but 48 hours has eclipsed and I have not received any email or other contact from Support. I would have expected to receive some sort of password reset link by now, but I have not received any communication. What is my next step?
Thanks,

Joshua Tennenbaum

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

If you do not have access to the verification method linked to your account for a password reset, I'm afraid the only way to recover the account is through the account recovery web form: https://account.live.com/acsr

Since you didn't receive the results from the ACSR, try submitting another recovery request via Incognito/InPrivate window and using different devices or network services. Then please check your email inbox, junk, and spam folders within 24 hours.

Important: If you have an active 2FA, ACSR will inform you that your recovery request will be ignored. If you only receive a message that the recovery request is either successful or indicates insufficient information, this means that 2FA is disabled.

You'll need to keep trying until you're verified by Microsoft, and you can do this up to 2 times every 24 hours.

If your Microsoft account recovery request was not granted, please review this link for tips on improving your chances of a successful recovery: https://support.microsoft.com/office/dc56c3e3-dff0-4ed5-8edb-60290eea6b53

Please be advised that Microsoft Support will not be able to grant you access to your account.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl

I have completed all of these steps. After unsuccessfully attempting the recovery process a first time, I waited several days before re-attempting. I filled out the online recovery form and did not get an immediate 'rejected' email as I did the first time. But it has been several days and I have received no response at all and my expectation was to have received a response within 48 hours.

If you are unable to log into your Outlook account and have not received any communication from Support after attempting the password recovery process, here are some steps you can take:

    1. Check Your Spam/Junk Folder: Sometimes, password reset emails can end up in the spam or junk folder of your email. Make sure to check there.
    2. Use the Account Recovery Form: If you haven't already, try using the official recovery form at https://account.live.com/acsr. Fill it out with as much accurate information as possible to help verify your identity.
    3. Wait for the Lockout Period: If you have attempted the recovery process multiple times, your account may be temporarily locked. It’s usually best to wait for about 24 hours before trying again.
    4. Contact Microsoft Support: If you still cannot access your account, you may need to contact Microsoft Support directly. You can do this by visiting Microsoft Support and selecting the appropriate options for account recovery.
    5. Secure Your Account: If you suspect unauthorized access, ensure that your security information is up to date. If you can sign in briefly, check your security info and remove any unfamiliar recovery options.

If you continue to experience issues, it may be necessary to escalate your case with Microsoft Support for further assistance.
