Alternate Instructions for Manual Update Microsoft 365

On my Mac via help > check for updates I have had an error "Updates are temporarily unavailable. Please try again..." for weeks now. Why does Microsoft force users into auto update? Many of us don't want the processing drain! I was unable to do this via App Store as well, as MS doesn't show up in the list of apps. What is my alternative to updating MS 365 that doesn't force me into auto-update?

    You can download the latest Office for Mac updates here : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office-for-mac
    Just scroll to "Release history for Office for Mac" and download the latest version available.
    Download it and install it.
