Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.
I would like to provide you with the following information:
This issue occurs because your colleague has shared the OneNote with you using Can view (read-only) permission.
Since you only have read-only access, you are not able to edit or export content directly from the shared OneNote.
In this case, you will need to contact your colleague and either:
- Ask them to grant you Can edit permission, or
- Ask them to export the OneNote and send the file to you.
You may share the following instructions with your colleague:
Steps to export OneNote:
- Step 1: Click File → Export → Export OneNote
Steps to grant edit permission (Can edit):
- Step 1: Open OneNote
- Step 2: In the top-right corner, click Share → Manage access
- Step 3: Click on your name and change the permission to Can edit
Once your colleague completes the steps above, you will be able to edit and export the content from the OneNote.
I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.
Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.
I look forward to continuing the conversation.
