Unable to sign into MS Business account

So, I need to sign into my MS business account, but it requires the use of Authenticator, which works fine for my personal account because I have already signed into my account on the Authenticator.

My problem is that to add the business account to the authenticator, it asks for a code from the authenticator..... which I cannot get. The personal authenticator code is too long for the business code.

Of course there is NO WAY TO CALL Microsoft help. Or is there?
And what is the Parent child thing below?

Thanks

    Dear @Don Elias,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

Thank you for posting your question, and I’m sorry that you’re facing this sign‑in difficulty.

Based on your description, I understand that you’re able to use Microsoft Authenticator successfully with your personal Microsoft account, but when you try to sign in to your Microsoft 365 business account, you’re asked to enter a code from the Authenticator app and end up stuck in a verification loop.

In simple terms, this behavior usually occurs because personal Microsoft accounts and work or school accounts are handled differently. A Microsoft 365 business account is managed by your organization through Microsoft Entra ID, and it requires a separate MFA (multi‑factor authentication) registration. Codes generated for a personal account cannot be used to verify a business account, and until the business account’s MFA registration is properly reset or completed, the sign‑in process may continue looping.

In this situation, the recommended next step is to contact your organization’s administrator or IT department. They can reset or revoke your existing MFA registration for the business account and ask you to re‑register Microsoft Authenticator from scratch. After they do this, you should be able to sign in again and complete the MFA setup normally.

Please have your administrator follow the steps shown in the following article: Manage authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multi-factor authentication - Microsoft Entra ID …

Please note that forum moderators have no control over user accounts, especially when it comes to logging in to your account, resetting your password, changing your access, etc.

Therefore, If you are the only administrator in the tenant and there is no other admin who can assist, you’ll need to contact Microsoft Support directly and request help with an MFA lockout for a Microsoft 365 business account. Microsoft Support has the appropriate tools to verify ownership and help reset the authentication methods when no admin access is available.

Please try to find the related hotline number to call the frontline let them raise a ticket for you: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support

In some countries, this is an automated conversation: First, when you call the hotline, they will ask you what kind of problem you are struggling with.

    Answer: Authenticator.

A: What products do you use?

    B: Office 365 for business.

    Verification: Education or company account?

    B: For companies

    A: Are you an administrator?

    B: Yes.

A: Are there any other administrators in your organization?

    B: No.

A: I need one.... Service request?

    B: Yes

If your organization's Office 365 Business/Education subscription is from a partner or reseller, and the global administrator is unable to open a service request on your end, contact the reseller's support provider to help open a service request on behalf of you instead.

If you still cannot reach to agent, there is still a workaround, you might consider registering for a new tenant by signing up for a trial subscription via this link Compare All Microsoft 365 Plans | Microsoft. This would allow you to create a new tenant following the provided prompts. Once set up, you can access the admin console of the new tenant and submit a support ticket requesting to speak with the Data Protection team on behalf of your previous tenant.

Please remember to cancel the trial subscription once your issue is resolved to avoid any unintended charges.

I understand that this entire process can feel long and complicated, and I truly appreciate your patience while working through it. These steps are in place to protect the security of your account, so I hope you can understand why they are required. I sincerely hope you’ll be able to regain access to your account soon. If you need help at any point, or if you have any questions during the process, please feel free to reach out, I’m always here and happy to assist.

Thank you again for your understanding and patience.

    Warm regards,

To resolve your issue with signing into your Microsoft business account, you need to regain access to your account since the Authenticator app is not allowing you to add the business account due to the verification code requirement. Here are some steps you can take:

    1. Contact Microsoft Support: Since you mentioned difficulties in reaching Microsoft support, you can try calling their customer service hotline. When you call, follow the prompts to indicate that you are a business user and that you need technical support. Here’s a general guide on how to navigate the call:
      • Press "1" for business email users.
      • Press "1" again for technical support.
      • Confirm that you are an administrator and that there are no other administrators in your organization.
    2. Use a Temporary Account: If you cannot reach support, consider creating a trial Microsoft 365 tenant. This will allow you to sign in to the Admin Center and submit a support ticket directly from there. You can sign up for a trial subscription and then navigate to the Admin Center to raise a support request regarding your locked account.
    3. Parent-Child Relationship: The term "Parent-Child" typically refers to the relationship between different Microsoft accounts or tenants. In this context, it may relate to how accounts are structured or managed within an organization, but specific details were not provided in the context.

These steps should help you regain access to your business account. If you need further assistance, feel free to ask.
