I used my email address to make an account for a game recently. When I got the confirmation email to finish setting up my account, my display name for my email address changed to the game name which I obviously don't want to happen.
I checked all over my Microsoft account settings and Outlook settings and I can't find any indication of a name change but when I send myself an email I can clearly see the game name is still there. I know that other people could see it too because I sent my Gmail account an email from my Microsoft account and when I open the email from the Gmail account it shows the display name that I don't want.
How do I fix this issue and disable it from happening because this isn't the first time this has happened. Last time it just fixed itself after about a month but the issue has started back again recently and I don't want to wait a month for it to change. I can't have my name randomly changing because I use my account for business as well and I have emails to send out.
My account is not linked to the game account. I just made a Chess.com account, I did not link it to my Outlook account. This issue happens from Outlook for Desktop, Mobile and Browser.

It is a "@live.com" address. I went to "https://account.live.com > Your info > Edit name", already but that didn't help. It shows my name as normal but when I go into outlook and send an email to myself the name still pops up as the game name. The game name only pops up when I'm sending an email to myself either from the same email address or a gmail address.
Does it matter what device you used to send yourself the email? Or it happened on any device (phone, computer, etc).
Do you use an email app to send it? Have you tried sending it directly via https://www.outlook.com ?
It happens whether I'm on mobile or PC. I've used Outlook from the Mobile App, Desktop App and Desktop Browser. I get the same issue on every device. Last time I got the issue it ended up fixing itself after about a month or so but I just want to know how to disable Outlook from using a nickname from other emails I've sent or received.
Is this an outlook.com or hotmail.com address?
If so, go to https://account.live.com > Your info > Edit name, you would be able to change First and Last Names there.
