I need help as I created a B2C tenant and the tenant was created incorrectly. No production data exists. We require permanent deletion and namespace release of so we can rebuild correctly. This namespace is required for contractual branding alignment.

    Hey there, Dennis Taucher

I just want to make you aware that deleting the tenant will not free up your initial onmicrosoft.com domain. This means your floornation.onmicrosoft.com domain will always be reserved, even after you delete the tenant. You are unable to change your original onmicrosoft.com domain either, which is a shame.

When researching your domain, I think you are wanting to match your domain which looks to be floor-nation.shop. For this, you would need to create a new tenant. However, I would first make sure you can create the new tenant first to fix your B2C branding issue. What I don't want you to do is delete this tenant, then find out you are unable to create the tenant with the correct name because it has already been created by someone else. This will mean you would be able to recreate the previous tenant you have got currently.

Please sign into your Azure portal with a global admin account here: https://portal.azure.com

Once you have signed into your account, please click onto (or search) 'Microsoft Entra ID'

This will open your overview page for your tenant. You will want to click onto 'Create' on the top navigation.

Then create a new tenant first with the desired name. Once you have set up the tenant using your desired setup and configuration, you can then delete your previous tenant if you want to. You would need to select the tenant you wish to remove using the checkbox on the left-hand side.

Then click onto 'Delete' from the menu above the table

In addition to this, I don't think you can use special characters in your domain names as noted in this article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/entra/identity-platform/quickstart-create-new-tenant#create-a-new-microsoft-entra-tenant

    Hope this helps,
    Nathan

To permanently delete your Azure AD B2C tenant and release the namespace (in your case, floornation.onmicrosoft.com), you need to follow these steps:

    1. Delete Tenant Resources: Before you can delete the tenant, ensure that all resources associated with it are deleted. This includes user flows, identity providers, applications, and users (except for the admin account you're currently signed in with).
      • Sign in to the Azure portal with a Global Administrator role.
      • Navigate to the Azure AD B2C service and delete all users, app registrations, identity providers, and user flows as outlined in the Azure documentation.
    2. Delete the Tenant: Once all resources are removed, you can delete the tenant itself.
      • Sign in to the Azure portal again with a Global Administrator role.
      • Go to the Microsoft Entra ID service and select the tenant you wish to delete.
      • Click on the Delete button and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the deletion process.

After the tenant is deleted, the namespace should be released, allowing you to recreate it correctly for your branding needs.

Make sure to check the Azure documentation for any specific requirements or limitations regarding tenant deletion and namespace release.
