Dear belinda green,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum. I understand you’re receiving repeated account creation and verification emails you did not initiate, indicating your email address is being abused by a third party, and you want to stop it. Please follow these steps:
- Force all sessions to re-authenticate (cuts off any still-signed-in browsers/apps) . Go to Microsoft account Advanced security options, then select Sign out everywhere.
- Turn on stronger sign-in protections (prevents re-use of stolen credentials). Use Microsoft Authenticator and passwordless sign-in, add another way to sign in, and avoid being signed in on public/shared devices. These steps reduce the chance the attacker can regain access even if they keep trying your credentials elsewhere.
- If any of the incoming messages are scam/phishing (not legitimate verification emails), report them as phishing. Report suspicious messages using Report > Report phishing to remove them and improve filtering. See: Phishing and suspicious behavior in Outlook - Microsoft Support
- Create Inbox rules to automatically move or delete these sign-up emails .Use rules in Outlook/Outlook.com to automatically perform actions on incoming mail (move, delete, etc.). Use this to route “verification”, “confirm your email”, “one-time code”, and similar subjects to a separate folder (or delete if safe). Please go to Settings > Mail > Rules (Outlook.com / Outlook on the web) and create a rule based on subject keywords/senders.
- Block repeat sender domains. Block specific email addresses or domains so they go to Junk Email automatically. Go to : Settings > Mail > Junk email > add to Blocked senders/domains.
If you still see signs of takeover (new suspicious activity returning after you secured the account), follow Microsoft’s “hacked or compromised account”.
