Window's won't detect wireless ear buds

I've tried everything that I can find, both online and through Window's Help. I've been trying to play music from my pc through my wireless ear buds, but Windows does not detect them, even after I hear through them say, "Pairing, connected". I've restarted my pc, checked for updates to my audio, all to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Edward,

Sorry to hear nothing works, but i wont give up to your earbud problem as long as i still have options. Let's try to narrow down the problem until we reach the main cause.

    A. Are the earbuds in good working condition? Have you or can you try to connect it on other devices like your smart phone?

    B. Are the earbuds not linked to a different device? Many modern earbuds auto-connect silently.

    C. Let's check your Bluetooth adpater, it might not be supporting the required audio profile (A2DP). Even Bluetooth works for mouse or keyboard, audio still requires A2DP profile support. If your adapter is older like Bluetooth 4.0 or generic OEM driver, it may fail silently.

    Let's check your Adapter.

    1. Press Win + X → Device Manager
    2. Expand Bluetooth
    3. Can you enumerate the list under Bluetooth.
      User's image
    4. Can you also give me your exact earbuds brand and model.

    D. Windows Bluetooth ctack corruption. If nothing appears during scanning, try the full Bluetooth registry reset.

    1. Press Win + R
    2. Type: devmgmt.msc
    3. Under Bluetooth:
    4. Uninstall EVERY Bluetooth device listed
    5. Restart PC
    6. Let Windows reinstall fresh
    7. If still not detected after that — we move to final stage.

    E. Let's check your BIOS Bluetooth if disabled. On some PCs, Bluetooth can be disabled in BIOS.

    1. Restart PC > Enter BIOS, usually F2, DEL, or F10.
    2. Look for: Wireless Bluetooth Internal devices
    3. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled.

    I hope something works here.

    Regards,
    Jhun

Hi Jhun, I just want to take a moment to thank you for your unwavering support for my earbud problem. After trying your suggestions, I was able to hear the faintest and quickest of snippets from my pc. But only for the briefest of moments, then they were back off again. I've gone ahead and purchased a new pair of BOSE Bluetooth earbuds which, hopefully, will solve my problem. Again, thank you for your assistance. It's very much appreciated.

    Hi Edward Ross,

Good day. I'm Jhun an independent advisor. Let's get straight to some of these fixes.

    A. Check bluetooth services. Sometimes Bluetooth is ON, but the Windows service behind it isn’t running.

    1. Press Win + R
    2. Type: services.msc
    3. Find these services: Bluetooth Support Service Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service
    4. Make sure their status are both "RUNNING"
    5. If not, Right-click > Start.
    6. Set Startup Type to Automatic
    7. Restart PC.

    B. Remove and fully reset Bluetooth Stack. This is different from just updating drivers.

    1. Press Win + X > Device Manager.
    2. Expand Bluetooth.
    3. Right-click your Bluetooth adapter.
    4. Click Uninstall device.
    5. Check "Attempt to remove driver software" if available.
    6. Restart your PC.
    7. Windows will reinstall a fresh Bluetooth stack.

    C. Check if Windows is connecting in “Hands-Free” mode only. Sometimes earbuds connect for calls but not music.

    1. Right-click speaker icon > Sound settings.
    2. Click More sound settings.
    3. Go to Playback tab.
    4. If you see: Headphones (Stereo) Headset (Hands-Free)
    5. Then: Disable Hands-Free Set Stereo as Default Device

    D. Set earbuds as default output device. Even if it says “Connected,” Windows may still use speakers.

    1. Go to, Settings > System > Sound.
    2. Under Output, manually select your earbuds.

    E. Check for A2DP support. This is for older Bluetooth Adapter issue.

    1. If your PC uses, Bluetooth 4.0 or older, some newer earbuds require: Bluetooth 4.2 or 5.0 with A2DP audio profile
    2. To check go to Device Manager > Bluetooth > Adapter Properties. Look up the adapter model online.
    3. If it’s old, a USB Bluetooth 5.0 adapter usually fixes this instantly.

    F. Turn off Allow computer to turn off Bluetooth.

    1. Device Manager.
    2. Expand Bluetooth.
    3. Right-click adapter > Properties.
    4. Go to Power Management tab.
    5. Uncheck: Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
    6. Restart PC.

    G. Reset Network Settings. This fixes hidden Bluetooth corruption.

    1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings.
    2. Click Network reset.
    3. This will remove saved WiFi passwords.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Jhun

To troubleshoot the issue of your wireless earbuds not being detected by Windows, you can follow these steps:

    1. Ensure Bluetooth is Enabled: Make sure that Bluetooth is turned on in your Windows 11 settings. You can check this by going to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices and ensuring that Bluetooth is toggled on.
    2. Put Earbuds in Pairing Mode: Ensure your earbuds are in pairing mode. This usually involves placing them in the charging case, opening the lid, and pressing a button on the case until an LED light starts flashing.
    3. Add Bluetooth Device: In the Bluetooth settings on your laptop, click on Add Bluetooth or other device and select Bluetooth. Your earbuds should appear in the list of available devices. If they do not appear, try refreshing the list or restarting your laptop.
    4. Remove Other Devices: If you have other Bluetooth devices connected, disconnect them as they might be interfering with the connection.
    5. Update Bluetooth Drivers: Ensure that your Bluetooth drivers are up to date. You can check for updates in Device Manager under Bluetooth. Right-click on your Bluetooth adapter and select Update driver.
    6. Run Bluetooth Troubleshooter: If the above steps do not work, you can run the Bluetooth troubleshooter. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters, and find the Bluetooth troubleshooter to run it.

Following these steps should help you connect your wireless earbuds to your Windows PC successfully.
