There are two profiles on my HP Pavillion Windows 10 Laptop. I have access as the administrator on one of the profile but I forgot the password to the 2nd profile. As the administrator, am I able to reset the password for the 2nd profile - the profile which I have forgotten the password to - so that I can access the account? Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Hello,

If the second profile is a local user, you can hold down Win+R keys, type in netplwiz and press enter. When it is launched, click on the user, and then click on Reset Password to reset it.

If the second profile is linked to a Microsoft account, then you cannot use above method. You need to go to https://account.live.com and use forgot password to reset it.

As an administrator, you typically have the ability to reset the password for other user accounts on the same Windows 10 laptop. However, if the second profile is linked to a Microsoft account, you may need to follow specific steps to reset the password. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Open Settings: Go to the Start menu and select Settings.
    2. Accounts: Click on "Accounts" and then select "Family & other users".
    3. Select the User: Under "Other users", find the account for which you want to reset the password.
    4. Change Password: Click on the account and select "Change account type" or "Reset password" (if available). If it’s a local account, you can set a new password directly.
    5. Follow Prompts: Follow the prompts to reset the password.

If the account is a Microsoft account, you may need to go through the Microsoft account recovery process to reset the password.

If you encounter any issues or if the account is not a local account, you may need to refer to additional resources for troubleshooting or recovery options.
