Hello Victoria Edwards,
Thank you for reaching out in Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand how confusing it is when your computer suddenly asks for parental permission even though you're the only one using it.
This usually happens when the Microsoft account on that computer is marked as a child account inside a Microsoft Family group. Even if you own the device, the age settings or family role linked to your Microsoft account can trigger parental controls.
Here’s how to remove the restriction:
- Check if your Microsoft account is in a Family group
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/family
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account you use on the travel computer.
- Look under Your family: if your account appears under Child, that is why permission is required.
- Remove yourself from the Family group
- If you see yourself listed as a Child: Click your name > Select Leave family group.
- Confirm your birthdate
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/profile
- Check your Date of birth.
- If it shows an under‑18 age, correct it.
- Sign out and sign in again on the computer
- Sometimes Windows keeps old Family Safety data cached: Sign out > restart > sign in again and try the website.
Hope this helps
