    Hi Michele Jordan

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum and thank you for your question.

Publisher 2010 does not use a Microsoft account. It activates locally using the DVD and 25‑character product key.

If your key gives an error:

    1. Do not use office.com/setup – Office 2010 keys won’t work there.
    2. To repair Office 2010: First, go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program > Microsoft Office 2010 > Change > Repair.
    3. If repair fails, reinstall Office 2010: Delete Office 2010 > restart your device > reinstall from the original DVD > enter the product key.
    4. If the key is reported as invalid or blocked, it can’t be recovered online. This usually means the key was blocked or not meant for retail activation. In that case, contact the original seller for a replacement or refund.

I hope my answer helps. Thank you for your understanding and hope you have a great day

If you're encountering an error when trying to enter the code for your 2010 Publisher DVD, there are a few steps you can take to resolve the issue:

    1. Check the Code: Ensure that you are entering the code correctly, including any dashes or special characters.
    2. Verify Installation: Make sure that you are using the correct version of the software that corresponds to your product key. Sometimes, using a different version can lead to activation issues.
    3. Contact Support: If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for assistance. They can help troubleshoot the issue and verify your product key.
    4. Phone Activation: If online activation fails, you might try phone activation. You can find the phone number for your region on the Microsoft support site.

These steps should help you access your Publisher account and resolve the activation error.
