Issues setting up Roundcube webmail in Outlook desktop client

Outlook desktop client will occasionally sync with Roundcube webmail, but it drops the connection after a couple of days. It shows an error:

"Task 'Synchronizing subscribed folders for "Roundcube webmail address" reported error (0x800CCC0E) : 'Outlook cannot synchronize subscribed folders for "Roundcube webmail address". Error: Cannot connect to the server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

I believe I've followed the directions correctly and why would it show the error as well as sync email occasionally? I've also had some success with the iOS Outlook client, but that has since dropped as well and won't reconnect.

    Hello

I would suggest that you check with Roundcube support, to go over all of the configuration, such as server name, port, encryption settings, etc to make sure everything is correct according to their requirements.

If so, I recommend that you use Thunderbird email app, set it up and wait a day or two to see if you also experience the drop. If it happens again, that's something from Roundcube's side.

The error message you are encountering (0x800CCC0E) indicates that Outlook is having trouble connecting to the server for your Roundcube webmail account. This can happen for several reasons:

    1. Server Connectivity Issues: The server may be temporarily unavailable or experiencing issues. Check if you can access your Roundcube webmail directly through a web browser to confirm that the server is operational.
    2. Incorrect Configuration: Double-check your account settings in Outlook to ensure that the server names, ports, and authentication methods are correctly configured. Make sure you are using the correct IMAP/SMTP settings provided by your email service.
    3. Firewall or Antivirus Software: Sometimes, security software can block Outlook's connection to the email server. Ensure that your firewall or antivirus settings are not preventing Outlook from accessing the internet.
    4. Network Issues: If you are on a network with restricted access, such as a corporate or public network, it might be blocking the connection. Try connecting from a different network to see if the issue persists.
    5. Outlook Profile Corruption: If the issue continues, consider creating a new Outlook profile. Sometimes, profiles can become corrupted and cause connectivity issues.

If you have had some success with the iOS Outlook client, it may indicate that the problem is specific to the desktop client configuration or environment.

For further troubleshooting, you might want to consult the documentation or support resources specific to Roundcube or your email service provider.
