Hello,

My Dell G15 laptop is having heavy stuttering issues in Windows 11. The issues happen when I am trying to play a game or watch a video on YouTube or some other platform. It freezes for a second or 2. even the sound freezes. It happens randomly sometimes frequently sometimes rarely. It was never there on Windows 10. How do I fix it?

    Hi Shreyas Karnad,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. I'm happy to help.

Besides Independent Advisor's suggestion, please check if you have Memory integrity enabled.

You may open Core isolation from Start menu search, if you have Memory integrity enabled, please disable it and restart your computer.

I hope that this advice may help you fix the issue.

If the problem persists, please keep me updated.

If the problem only occurs when you are playing games or watching online videos, then most likely there is a problem with either the graphics drivers or the network drivers.

The best option would be to go to the support page for your PC on the manufacturer's website, then from there, download and reinstall (not update) the version of graphics drivers and network drivers they provide.

Heavy stuttering issues in Windows 11, especially during gaming or video playback, can be caused by various factors including driver compatibility, system performance settings, or specific updates. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Update Drivers: Ensure that all your device drivers, especially graphics and audio drivers, are up to date. You can check for updates via Windows Update or visit the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers.
    2. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows 11 installation is fully updated. Sometimes, Microsoft releases updates that fix performance issues.
    3. Adjust Performance Settings: You can adjust the performance settings in Windows to prioritize performance over appearance. Go to Settings > System > About > Advanced system settings, then under the Performance section, click Settings and choose Adjust for best performance.
    4. Disable Background Applications: Close unnecessary applications running in the background that may be consuming system resources.
    5. Check for Resource Usage: Use the Task Manager to monitor CPU, memory, and disk usage. If any application is using excessive resources, consider closing it or finding an alternative.
    6. Run Troubleshooters: Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can help identify and fix issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot and run the relevant troubleshooters.
    7. Consider Hardware Issues: If the problem persists, it might be worth checking for hardware issues such as overheating or failing components. Ensure that your laptop is clean and that the cooling system is functioning properly.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to consider reverting to Windows 10 if the performance was significantly better there, or seeking further assistance from Dell support.
