Hello @Steve MacPhail,
Good day! Thank you for posting your valuable question on the Microsoft Q&A forum.
I’d like to inform you that Microsoft is currently aware of an ongoing service issue affecting workflow actions in Microsoft Teams chats and channels. Due to this issue, some users may find that workflow-related options (such as actions under More actions) are unavailable or appear greyed out, preventing workflows from being initiated.
- Current Status: Microsoft has identified the root cause of this issue as a recent service update that introduced a client-side code issue, resulting in service degradation for workflow actions in Teams chats and channels.
- Mitigation Efforts: The engineering team has reproduced the issue in a testing environment and confirmed that refreshing the client cache/clear browsing data may mitigate the impact. Microsoft is actively monitoring the deployment while continuing to work on improvements to restore full functionality.
- Service Impact: While mitigation is in place, some users may continue to experience intermittent issues when attempting to initiate workflow actions in Teams chats or channels.
To ensure the correct Microsoft Teams/browser cache is cleared, I’ll outline the steps below. Please follow them to reset the cache again.
If you’re using the Microsoft Teams client app, please refer to the linked document or follow the steps outlined below:
On Windows:
- Navigate to your Taskbar and look for the Microsoft Teams icon. Right-click the icon and choose Quit. This will force the Teams app to quit.
- Next, copy and paste the following location into File Explorer: %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams, and delete the contents of the entire folder.
- Restart Microsoft Teams by opening the application and logging back in.
On a Mac:
- Right-click the Teams icon in the taskbar and choose Quit.
- Next, delete the directory ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams.
- Restart Microsoft Teams by opening the application and logging back in.
On Mobile device (iOS/Android)
There’s no manual cache clearing option, but you can:
- Sign out and sign back in.
- Or uninstall and reinstall the app to reset the cache.
Note: Deleting the cache won't remove Microsoft Teams from your device, but will remove the web client cache, icons, thumbnails, local message history, your Teams display images, and any other Teams add-ons.
If you're using Teams on the web, you can try these steps for Microsoft Edge (recommended for Teams web, if you're using other browser please let me know):
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Select Settings and more (⋯) in the top‑right corner.
- Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
- Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear.

- Set Time range to All time.
- Check:
- Cached images and files.
- (Optional) Cookies and other site data if you want a full reset.
- Select Clear now, then restart the browser.
- Sign in Teams again to test the behavior.
Shortcut: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete on (Windows device) to open the Clear browsing data page directly.
I understand how important it is to be able to use workflow actions seamlessly in Microsoft Teams chats and channels, and I sincerely apologize for any disruption this issue may cause. The engineering teams are actively working to address the service degradation and restore full functionality as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while the engineering teams continue to resolve this issue. I will share updates as more information becomes available.
