Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Hello Frans Mulder (buro3b),
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!
I realize that you've encountered a problem with recovery request. I truly understand your confusion. Let me assist you further.
Here is my suggestion:
1. Another admin resets your password
If there is at least one other Global Admin in your tenant, that admin must:
- Sign in to Microsoft 365
- Reset your admin password
- Give you a temporary password
2, If You are the only admin
If you are the only admin and cannot sign in:
- Self‑service password reset will not work
- Microsoft support agents cannot manually reset your password
- You must contact Microsoft Support for admin recovery
To contact Microsoft Support for admin recovery
- Go to Contact Microsoft Support: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contact
- Choose: Microsoft 365 and Office > Subscription, account, billing > Other
- Select Contact Support and explain: You are locked out of the only admin account. You need tenant/admin account recovery
Microsoft will then start an identity and ownership verification process (this cannot be bypassed)
Please note that the chat support team only works during certain working hours. Therefore, if the last window indicates that you are unavailable, try opening it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. That way, they can call you and help you.
Note:
- If two‑step verification is enabled and you no longer have access to any recovery methods, Microsoft cannot recover the account for security reasons
- Support cannot override MFA or security proofs
- This is a security rule, not a support limitation
I hope this will help with your situation. Please feel free to reach back if you have further update or more questions.
Best Regards,
