The X on the indicator indicates battery unknown, and the yellow light should not be blinking, the yellow light just indicates battery level is below 20%.

The new battery indicators in Windows are very new functionality, and may be buggy, some people even indicate the new battery indicator has disappeared from their laptop, Microsoft release new functionality around the world slowly and monitor for bugs, then if any bugs are found, then patch the new functionality and release it to a wider user base.

If your battery is charging correctly, then most likely this is just a bug in the new battery indicator, which should resolve itself without you needing to do anything.

If you want to check your battery start your laptop, then on the Dell logo screen, repeatedly press the F12 key, and on the resulting menu, select Diagnostics, then run that full diagnostics test.

A blinking yellow light on your DELL G15 5520's battery charging indicator typically indicates that there is a problem with the battery or the charging system. This could mean that the battery is not charging properly, or it may be a sign of a battery failure.

The cross sign on the battery icon in the quick menu further suggests that the system is experiencing issues recognizing the battery or charging it effectively. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check Connections: Ensure that the charger is properly connected to both the laptop and the power outlet. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause charging issues.
    2. Inspect the Charger: Make sure that the charger is functioning correctly. If possible, try using a different charger that is compatible with your laptop.
    3. Battery Health Check: If your laptop has built-in diagnostics, run a battery health check to see if the battery is functioning properly.
    4. Update Drivers: Ensure that your battery and power management drivers are up to date. You can check this through the Device Manager in Windows.
    5. Reset the Battery: If the issue persists, you might want to try resetting the battery. This can sometimes resolve charging issues. To do this, shut down the laptop, disconnect the charger, and remove the battery if possible. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, then reconnect everything and power it back on.
    6. Contact Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it may be best to contact DELL support for further assistance or consider replacing the battery if it is determined to be faulty.

Keep in mind that a blinking yellow light is often a warning sign, so it's advisable to address the issue promptly to avoid further complications.
