    Hi, DDF

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Sorry for this unwanted experience that you're encountering. That d.docs.live.net is simply your OneDrive cloud address (often shown when OneDrive is accessed as a “web site” or network location), while OneDrive > Personal > ... is the local synced folder on your PC. When syncing is paused, mis-signed-in, or Office is using a stale sign-in cache, the two can look “different” even though they are meant to represent the same storage.

Here are some suggestions you can try in this situation:

Check that OneDrive is actually running and syncing (not paused or signed into a different account).

If OneDrive is off or stuck, the local folder won’t update to match what you see via d.docs.live.net, so files appear “missing” on one side. This exact confusion is commonly caused by sync being off or delayed.

Open OneDrive in your browser to confirm what is truly in the cloud.

Go to the OneDrive website and sign in, then browse to the same folder structure. This works because d.docs.live.net is just a service address pointing to your OneDrive cloud files, so the web view is a reliable “source of truth” for what’s stored online.

If the mismatch happens when saving from Word/Excel, clear the Office upload cache.

Office can keep an outdated upload/sign-in cache, which makes it show odd locations like d.docs.live.net or fail to reflect the latest folder view. Clearing the Upload Center cache forces Office to rebuild that connection cleanly.

Remove old OneDrive/Office credentials, then sign back in to OneDrive from Office.

If Windows or Office is hanging onto an old login token, it can point you at the wrong OneDrive context or block proper syncing. Removing saved credentials and re-adding the OneDrive account refreshes the authentication path.

Tip: Once things are stable, try to work mainly from the OneDrive local folder (File Explorer) or the OneDrive web site, and avoid using the “web sites > d.docs.live.net” network-style view as your daily workspace, it’s just another access method and can be confusing.

Hope this helps. Feel free to get back if you need further assistance.

If I click on the Onedrive icon on bottom right I get the attached photo. I do not know how to correct this?

Please see below in BOLD Italic

    1. Synchronization Issues: If the files in "d.docs" are not synchronized with your OneDrive, they will not appear in your OneDrive folder. Ensure that the OneDrive sync app is properly configured and running.

How do I ensure the above?

    1. File Location: The files you are referring to may be stored in a different location that is not linked to your OneDrive account. OneDrive requires that files be saved in the OneDrive folder on your device to sync them to the cloud.

They are in my OneDrive folder on my pc

    1. User Permissions: If the files are shared with you but not owned by you, you may not have the necessary permissions to see them in your OneDrive.

They are files I have created and saved - not shared with anyone

    1. Different Accounts: Make sure that you are logged into the correct Microsoft account that has access to the files you are expecting to see in OneDrive.

I only have the one MS account

No - more documents are in web sites > https://d.docs.live.net > BDDSDE etc and NOT in Onedrive which is where I would like them to be.

I have no idea how to access the d.docs otherwise - only showed up when I clicked on Show File Location.

    Very frustrating.

It seems that you are experiencing an issue where not all your files are appearing in your OneDrive account, but are instead located in a different directory (d.docs). This could be due to a few reasons:

    1. Synchronization Issues: If the files in "d.docs" are not synchronized with your OneDrive, they will not appear in your OneDrive folder. Ensure that the OneDrive sync app is properly configured and running.
    2. File Location: The files you are referring to may be stored in a different location that is not linked to your OneDrive account. OneDrive requires that files be saved in the OneDrive folder on your device to sync them to the cloud.
    3. User Permissions: If the files are shared with you but not owned by you, you may not have the necessary permissions to see them in your OneDrive.
    4. Different Accounts: Make sure that you are logged into the correct Microsoft account that has access to the files you are expecting to see in OneDrive.

Yes, OneDrive is a cloud storage service, meaning that files saved in OneDrive should be accessible from any device connected to the internet, as long as they are properly synchronized.

To resolve the issue, check your OneDrive settings, ensure that the files are saved in the OneDrive folder, and verify that you are using the correct account.
