Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.
No, you can’t “switch” a Windows 11 download license to a USB version just to get a product key.
The USB and download versions of Windows 11 Home are the same license type. The USB just contains the installer. The license itself is still digital.
To help narrow down the issue:
- Where did you buy Windows 11 Home? Microsoft Store or third-party seller?
- Did you receive a product key in email?
- What exact error do you get in Parallels?
- Are you using the latest version of Parallels Desktop?
Also, on Mac with Parallels (especially Apple Silicon), you need the ARM version of Windows 11 Home. The standard x64 ISO will not activate properly on M1/M2/M3 Macs.
In most cases:
- You don’t need a USB.
- You install Windows through Parallels.
- Then activate using your product key or Microsoft account (digital license).
If you bought it from Microsoft and it hasn’t been activated, you may request a refund and repurchase the correct version.
I really hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Regards,
John J.D.
