A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
Hi Joel Rash,
Good day. I'm Jhun an independent advisor. In regards with your Excel copy-paste misfunctions, try to do these fixes and let's see what will fix the issue.
A. Restart Excel properly.
- Close Excel.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc > Open Task Manager.
- End all Microsoft Excel processes.
- Reopen Excel and test copy-paste.
- If still not working, continue to next option.
B. Test in Safe Mode. To check if Add-ins are causing this.
- Press Windows + R
- Type: excel /safe
- Press Enter.
- Now try copy-paste. If it works, an add-in is causing the issue. If it still fails, continue to other fixes.
- To disable add-ins:
- File > Options > Add-ins.
- At bottom: Manage COM Add-ins > Go.
- Uncheck all > Restart Excel.
C. Clear Windows clipboard
- Press Windows+V.
- Click clear all.
- Restart Excel.
- Or open Command Prompt and run: echo off | clip
D. Check if it’s only one workbook.
- Test copy-paste in a new blank workbook, between two different Excel files
- Test copy from Notepad and paste to Excel.
- If it only fails in one file, the workbook may be corrupted.
E. Check Office activation. If you've had Office issues before (registration & hardware change), verify activation:
- Open Excel.
- File > Account.
- Check if it says:
- Product Activated or Unlicensed Product.
- If unlicensed, copy-paste and editing features may break.
F. Run Office quick repair.
- Control Panel.
- Programs and Features.
- Select Microsoft Office.
- Click Change.
- Choose Quick Repair. If it fails, try Online Repair.
G. Check if another program is blocking clipboard.
- Common culprits: Remote desktop apps Clipboard managers Screenshot tools Antivirus
- Temporarily disable antivirus and test.
I hope this works.
Regards,
Jhun
