Xbox App Stuck on "Launching the Xbox App" then Crashes

Hello

I have a computer running Windows 11(attached screenshots to show versions installed) and when I try to open the Xbox app, it will show "Launching the Xbox App" for approximately 2 minutes before crashing. So far, in an attempt to resolve, I have tried the following to no resolve: -Restarting my computer

-Updated Windows and the Xbox app

-Uninstall/Reinstall Xbox App

-Ran Windows powershell as admin and used the commands to remove xbox and gaming services, then restarted my computer and reinstalled them both.

  • Followed steps from another post on here titled "Xbox app wont load"

I will attach a link to an imgur video(that's the only place i could think to upload so i could include it here) where I am able to show exactly what happens.

I have the ultimate edition of Disney Dreamlight Valley and have not been able to play it or access gamepass. This issue has actually been ongoing for months for me and has never worked since.

This is a copy paste of another post. The solutions on the post did not work so I need personal help.

Please and thank you.

Before we proceed, may I know the link of the article that you've tried to check for you? Additionally, please go to Event Viewer > Application log and check if there are any log for the Xbox apps. Also, may I know if other Microsoft Services is working well?

In the meantime, you can try these steps if you haven't done it already.

    • Run SFC scan.
      1. Type "Command Prompt" in the search bar and choose "Run as administrator"
      2. Type SFC /scannow and press Enter.
      3. Restart your PC.
    • Sync time.
      1. Go to Settings > Time & language > Date and time.
      2. Make sure "Set time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically" is on.
      3. Select "Sync now" to synchronize the clock.

It sounds like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue with the Xbox app crashing on launch. Here are a few additional suggestions that may help:

    1. Ensure Gaming Services are Up to Date: Sometimes, the Gaming Services can be outdated, which may cause issues with the Xbox app. You can check for updates by going to Add or Remove Programs in settings. To force an update, you can use PowerShell:
      • Launch PowerShell as an administrator and enter "get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers".
      • Then, in the same PowerShell window, enter "start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN" to reinstall Gaming Services.
    2. Check Xbox App Version: Make sure your Xbox app is up to date. If your PC has been in a dev sandbox for a long time, the Xbox app might not be updated. Switch to RETAIL sandbox if necessary, and check for updates in the Microsoft Store.
      • You can also use PowerShell to remove the Xbox app and reinstall it:
        • Enter "get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxApp | remove-AppxPackage -allusers" in PowerShell.
        • Then reinstall it from the Microsoft Store using "start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9mv0b5hzvk9z".
    3. Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows 11 is fully updated, as system updates can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
    4. Try a Clean Boot: Sometimes, third-party applications can interfere with the Xbox app. Performing a clean boot can help identify if this is the case. You can find instructions on how to perform a clean boot on the Microsoft support site.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to consider reaching out to Microsoft Customer Support for further assistance.
