The Alt-GR key is not the same as the Alt key, when you press the Alt-GR key, that indicates to Windows you have pressed Alt + Ctrl keys, it is used for some specific functions in Windows like special characters on your keyboard.

Windows does not have any method or setting to re-map keys, if you want to remap the Alt-GR key to the Alt key you will need to use an app for that, the Microsoft PowerToys app available on the Microsoft Store can remap keys in the Keyboard Manager section.

The AltGr key is designed to provide access to additional characters and is often treated differently from the standard Alt key. If you want to configure your AltGr key to function like a normal Alt key on your ThinkPad, you might need to adjust your keyboard settings or use third-party software to remap the keys. Here are some general steps you can take:

    1. Keyboard Settings: Check your operating system's keyboard settings to see if there are options to modify the behavior of the AltGr key.
    2. Key Remapping Software: Consider using software like SharpKeys or AutoHotkey, which allows you to remap keys on your keyboard. You can set the AltGr key to act as a standard Alt key.
    3. Driver Updates: Ensure that your keyboard drivers are up to date, as outdated drivers can sometimes cause issues with key functionality.

These steps should help you configure the AltGr key to behave like a normal Alt key.
