Hello @Marketing
Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Community!
Thank you for letting us know your situation.
If my understand is correct, you are setting up the Microsoft Authenticator app for the first time and are being asked to provide a verification code from the same application you are trying to configure. I appreciate how confusing this can be, especially during an initial setup.
Please follow this step-by-step instruction:
Step One: Choose an Alternative Verification Method
When the sign‑in page asks for a code from Microsoft Authenticator, please look for an option such as:
- Sign in another way
- I cannot use the Microsoft Authenticator app right now
- Use a different verification option
Selecting one of these will display any backup verification methods that may already be associated with your account. Depending on your organization’s configuration, available choices can include:
- A text message sent to your mobile number
- A verification call
- A backup email address
- A one‑time recovery code, if this was provided previously
Completing verification using one of these methods will allow the setup process in the Authenticator app to continue.
Step Two: Confirm Whether You Have Any Existing MFA Method
Even if you have never used Microsoft Authenticator before, your organization may have already registered a phone number or alternative method for you. This is common when accounts are created by an administrator.
If you see any available verification options, please select one to proceed.
Step Three: If No Backup Method Appears
If the system does not display any alternative verification method, it means that your account does not yet have a registered second factor. In this case, an administrator will need to reset your multi‑factor authentication configuration.
This is a simple process and typically takes only a few moments. Once the reset is completed, you will be able to sign in and complete the Authenticator setup from the beginning, without encountering the verification loop.
If you’re unsure who the Global Admin is within your organization, you can find guidance on locating them here: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support
Please have your Admin follow the steps shown in the following article: Manage authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multi-factor authentication - Microsoft Entra ID …
- Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center as at least an Authentication Administrator.
- User > all user. Select the user you want to act on, and select Authentication methods. then select Require re-register of multi-factor authentication.
Please let me know how it goes on your end or if there are any misunderstandings. I am here to help.
