Re: Issue with Email Login Authentication

Name: Mr. Diaz

I am trying to log in using my email [[Moderator note: personal info removed]@icahnhouse.org]. However, when prompted to authenticate using my phone, I am not receiving the screen or option where I can enter the verification code to access my email.

Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue?

Thank you for your assistance.

    Dear Vladimir Diaz,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on the information you provided, it appears that you are not receiving notifications from the Microsoft Authenticator app, even though the account still appears in the app.

To assist you further, could you please confirm whether you are able to use the 6-digit verification code from the Authenticator app? Please follow me those steps below:

1/ Log in to your account. When prompted for MFA, select “I can’t use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now.”

2/ Choose the second option: “Use a verification code.”

3/ You will be prompted to enter the verification code same as below

4/ Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device. Tap your business account. You will see a one-time password (OTP) code valid for 30 seconds. Please enter the code.

It will show you a One-time password code that will be available for 30 seconds. Please help me to input the code.

If it is successfully, please reset your MFA settings by

1/ Accessing the link https://myaccount.microsoft.com and login with your account.

2/ Navigate to the Security Info section.

3/ Delete your current Microsoft Authenticator and click on “Add sign-in method” and select Microsoft Authenticator. Follow the prompts to set it up on your new phone.

    Additionally:

    • Add your phone number as an alternative authentication method in case the Authenticator app encounters issues.
    • Open an InPrivate window (Edge) or Incognito window (Chrome), log in to your account, and set up the authentication app again.

If any issues occur, please share a screenshot (ensure personal information is hidden) as this will greatly help with the next steps.

    Looking forward to your update.

If you're not receiving the option to enter a verification code when trying to log in with your email, here are a few steps you can take to resolve the issue:

    1. Check Your Authentication Methods: Make sure that your account is set up to use the Microsoft Authenticator app or other verification methods. If you have multiple methods enabled, try using an alternative method to log in.
    2. Reinstall the Microsoft Authenticator App: Sometimes, reinstalling the app can resolve issues. Uninstall the app, then download and install it again from the app store.
    3. Check for Service Issues: Occasionally, there may be temporary service issues with Microsoft that can affect authentication. You can check the Microsoft service status page for any ongoing issues.
    4. Use the Recovery Options: If you have set up recovery options (like a backup email or phone number), try using those to receive a verification code.
    5. Contact Support: If none of the above steps work, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your account settings.

These steps should help you regain access to your email account.
