I am having real issues with my Hotmail vs. outlook account. Simply put, I cannot get into my Outlook account. When I enter my email, it takes me to Hotmail. My Outlook and Hotmail are not synched up. I do not have and cannot obtain my password to OUTLOOK which is different (in my case) from my Hotmail account. I cannot access ANYTHING having to do with my Outlook account because I thought the Outlook and Hotmail passwords would be the same. They are not!! I set up a couple other devices (new tablet) with my Outlook account and cannot use them since I cannot get into my OUTLOOK account. I need HELP! Please!

Your @outlook.com account will not access your @hotmail.com mailbox. They're completely separate accounts. Unless you made their passwords the same, they'll have different passwords as well. Only you know what you set for the passwords.

Hi. I'm Brian and I'll try to help.

Outlook and Hotmail are the exact same mail service. You will see the exact same user interface no matter which Microsoft you are using to access a mailbox. However, an account whose address ends in @hotmail.com is a completely different account than one that uses an @outlook.com address unless those addresses are both aliases of the same account. In that case, it doesn't matter which you use to log in, you'll still see the same data. Different accounts will have different mailboxes.

Did you create two accounts? If so, it's normal to not see messages sent to the @outlook.com address when viewing the account whose address uses @hotmail.com and vice versa.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with accessing your Outlook account due to confusion between your Hotmail and Outlook credentials. Here are some steps you can take to regain access to your Outlook account:

    1. Account Recovery: Since you cannot remember your Outlook password, you should use the official recovery form at Microsoft account recovery page. Select "I forgot my password" and follow the prompts to recover your account.
    2. Check for Recovery Options: If you have set up security options like alternate email addresses or phone numbers, make sure to use those to receive a verification code.
    3. Use a Different Device: If possible, try accessing your Outlook account from a device you have previously used to log in, as this may help in the recovery process.
    4. Contact Microsoft Support: If you're still unable to access your account after trying the recovery options, consider contacting Microsoft Support for further assistance. They can help you with account recovery and may have additional tools to verify your identity.
    5. Be Persistent: If you encounter any errors during the recovery process, be persistent and provide as much information as possible about your account when filling out the recovery form.

Remember, Outlook and Hotmail accounts can sometimes have different passwords, especially if they were set up separately. It's important to ensure you are using the correct credentials for each service.
