    Hello @sumit sharma ,

Please check the status of the VM in the Azure portal and confirm whether it is in a Running or Deallocated state. If the VM is running but you are still unable to access it, kindly verify the CPU utilization to see if it has reached the maximum threshold. You may also try resizing the VM and then confirm whether it successfully returns to a running state.

Additionally, please confirm whether the VM agent status is Ready or Not Ready. In some cases, restarting the VM (Stop → Start) can resolve VM agent–related issues.

Please share the activity logs with me via private message, as they will be very helpful for understanding the issue in detail.

Also, ensure that you are using case-sensitive credentials when logging in to the Azure Linux VM.

If possible, try accessing the VM from a different network, as some ISPs may restrict connectivity.

Finally, could you please confirm when this issue started? Is this occurring with a new VM or an existing one?

also, please follow this link for the troubleshooting Linux vm- https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/azure/virtual-machines/linux/troubleshoot-ssh-connection

Please let us know if you have any further questions. I’m happy to assist. Thank you!

If you are unable to log in to your Azure virtual machine via SSH and are receiving a "permission denied" error even after resetting the password, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check SSH Service: Ensure that the SSH service is running on your virtual machine. You can verify this through the serial console.
    2. Network Security Group (NSG) Rules: Verify that the NSG rules allow SSH traffic (TCP port 22) to your VM. Make sure there are no rules blocking this traffic.
    3. Local Firewall: Check if there are any local firewall rules on the VM that might be preventing SSH access.
    4. User Role Assignment: If you are using Microsoft Entra ID for SSH logins, ensure that the user has the appropriate role assignments (Virtual Machine Administrator Login or Virtual Machine User Login) on the resource group that contains the VM.
    5. Serial Console Access: Since you mentioned using the serial console, make sure you are entering the correct username and password. If you have made changes to the SSH configuration, ensure that they are correct.
    6. Reset SSH Configuration: You can reset the SSH configuration using the Azure portal or Azure CLI if needed. This can help resolve issues related to misconfiguration.
    7. Check VM Health: Use the Azure portal to check the health of the VM to ensure it is reporting as healthy.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, consider redeploying the VM again or checking for any additional configuration issues that may be affecting your SSH access.
