I can’t use my email account at all. It keeps showing “parental guard”

I cannot use my email account at all. It keeps showing “parental guard” everywhere — even when I try to log in on the Microsoft website, the store, or on Android.

Because of this, I had to create a new account just to manage things myself — I literally had to become my own parent to control my own account! This is ridiculous.

I removed the problematic account from the family group and tried logging in again. However, it still shows “parental guard” even though I have already left the family group.

Please help me fix this issue as soon as possible.

    Hi,

If the account’s birthdate indicates you are under the legal adult age for your region, Microsoft automatically applies parental controls. Even if you leave a family group, the restriction can remain because it is tied to the age on the account, not just family membership.

    You should:

    • Sign in to your Microsoft account online.
    • Check the birthdate listed in your profile information.
    • Confirm it reflects your correct age.

If the birthdate shows you are underage, only a parent/organizer account can grant consent or adjust family permissions. If the birthdate is incorrect, you may need to request a correction through Microsoft account support.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with parental controls on your Microsoft account, even after removing your account from the family group. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Check Family Group Status: Ensure that your account is completely removed from the family group. Sometimes, it may take a little time for the changes to propagate.
    2. Sign Out and Back In: Log out of all Microsoft services and then log back in. This can sometimes refresh your account settings.
    3. Clear Cache and Cookies: If you're using a web browser, try clearing your cache and cookies, or use a different browser to see if the issue persists.
    4. Use the Microsoft Family Safety App: If you have access to the Microsoft Family Safety app, check if there are any settings that need to be adjusted or if your account is still listed.
    5. Contact Microsoft Support: If the problem continues, it may be best to reach out to Microsoft Support for assistance, as they can provide specific guidance based on your account status.

These steps should help you regain access to your email account without parental controls interfering.
