I am seeing quite an increase in costs within Azure both Azure SQL and Azure ADF. Is there a way of creating a view that shows the individual costs of each activity so that you can export it out and take the appropriate action? Being cynical its almost as if Microsoft are making it deliberately hard to get this information out of the platform.

To analyze the individual costs of activities in Azure, you can create customizable views in the Cost Analysis tool. This allows you to drill down into specific costs associated with Azure SQL and Azure Data Factory (ADF) activities. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Navigate to Cost Analysis: In the Azure portal, go to Cost Management + Billing > Cost Management > Cost Analysis.
    2. Set Filters: Use filters to focus on Azure SQL and ADF resources. You can filter by resource type to see costs associated with specific activities.
    3. Customize Views: You can create custom views that include specific date ranges, granularity (daily or monthly), and grouping options to better understand your costs.
    4. Export Data: Once you have your view set up, you can export the data in CSV format. This allows for further analysis in tools like Excel or Power BI, where you can take appropriate actions based on the insights you gather.

By utilizing these features, you can effectively monitor and analyze your Azure costs, making it easier to identify areas for optimization.
