After update to Win 11 my PC no longer can detect any apple iPhone

The problem seems to relate to the Windows MTP driver which has overwritten the Apple Mobile Device driver and then doesn't allow the PC to connect to my iPhone 16. Having researched this I have installed the latest version of iTunes but when I start the Apple Devices app it wants to delete the Apple Mobile Devices driver as it is out of date before it will load. I have tried to replace the MTP driver manually with usbaapl64 but Win 11 says it is not 64 bit and will not install it. (used update driver and install from the file)

I am assuming that the Apple Devices app has the up to date version of the driver but I have uninstalled it a reinstalled it with no effect. I have also removed and reinstalled iTunes and Bonjour but not Apple Music.

Apple are not helpful but I am wondering if they need to update there Apple Devices app to overwrite the MTP driver.

Has anyone solved this?
