I have a laptop with 3 USB ports and 1 USBC port. I have used the USB ports for a mouse and keyboard. Currently 2 of the ports are no longer working. Now, let's get all the questions out of the way that people like to ask in order to not answer the question in any reasonable way and try to blame the issue on user error:

Yes, they were working previously.

Yes, I have tried MANY other devices in the ports and NO none of them are recognized.

Yes, that includes getting a fresh new keyboard and trying it out.

Yes, all the drivers have been updated.

Yes, Windows 11 is updated to the most recent update.

Yes, I have tried going into the Device Manager and updating and deleting and doing a hard reboot with everything unplugged and then plugged back in.

Yes, I have tried the hard power down and reboot multiple times.

Hi there! My name is David. It’s a pleasure to help you today.

Thank you for sharing what you’ve tried to solve the issue.

Do the 2 USB ports that don’t work in Windows, works in your laptop’s BIOS/UEFI?

I can suggest the following test:

Connect a peripheral (mouse/keyboard) to one of the USB ports that isn’t working. Then check if the device works in the BIOS/UEFI.

To enter the BIOS/UEFI on a Lenovo laptop, you generally need to press the Fn+F2 keys repeatedly when turning on the laptop.

If the USB ports also don’t work in BIOS/UEFI, it’s possible that there is a hardware failure in them. In that case, the most recommended option is to contact Lenovo support or your trusted technician.

Let me know if the shared information has been helpful. Regards.

It sounds like you've already done a thorough job troubleshooting the USB ports on your Lenovo laptop. Since two of the USB ports are not functioning despite trying various devices and ensuring that drivers and Windows are up to date, there are a few additional steps you might consider:

    1. Check Device Manager for Errors: Make sure to check the Device Manager for any error messages related to the USB controllers. Sometimes, there may be a problem code that can provide more insight into the issue.
    2. Power Management Settings: Sometimes, USB ports can be disabled by power management settings. In Device Manager, right-click on each USB Root Hub, go to Properties, and check the Power Management tab to ensure that "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.
    3. BIOS Settings: Check the BIOS settings to see if USB ports are enabled. Sometimes, USB functionality can be disabled at the BIOS level.
    4. Hardware Issues: If none of the above steps work, it may be a hardware issue with the USB ports themselves. This could require professional repair or replacement.
    5. Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE): If you suspect a deeper issue with Windows, you might consider booting into the Windows Recovery Environment to see if the USB ports function there. If they do, it may indicate a software issue rather than a hardware one.

If the problem persists after these steps, it might be best to contact Lenovo support for further assistance or consider taking the laptop to a professional technician.
