How to log onto my xfinity email server using Outlook

I am unable to log onto my comcast.net email account using Outlook. The screen that comes up asks for a password without letting me enter my user id. Outlook wants to use my comcast email address as my user id. I have set up an outlook profile which will log onto my email server. However Outlook doesn't use the profile. How can I manually setup outlook to work with my correct user account?

    Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. From what you shared, I understand how frustrating it is when New Outlook for Windows keeps asking for a password but won’t let you enter the correct Xfinity/Comcast user ID.

    Just to confirm, when you try to add the account in New Outlook, do you see any error message on the screen?

    Please try the following:

    1. Remove the Comcast account from new Outlook and add it back
    • In new Outlook: View settings > Accounts > Your accounts
    • Find the Comcast account > Manage > Remove
    • Restart Outlook, then re-add it.
    1. When New Outlook asks for server details, use Xfinity’s official IMAP/SMTP settings:

    Incoming (IMAP)

    • Server: imap.comcast.net
    • Port: 993 with SSL

    Outgoing (SMTP)

    • Server: smtp.comcast.net
    • Port: 587 (or 465 if needed)
    • Encryption: TLS (use SSL if TLS isn’t shown)

    Username / sign-in: Use your full Comcast email address
