    Yes. It is happening generally.

Keep an eye on the support link you gave.

    Please see: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5720470/using-style-separator-is-causing-the-numbering-to

    Workarounds from that thread:

    Roll back to version 2511.

    or

    Save in .doc format

    or

See also Stacy Brown's response on January 29 in the above thread:

I have been following this issue here and on other vendor and legal technology boards. A new work-around was posted from one of our vendors, DocStyle. They say to try:

    • Work in Draft Layout while editing
    • Turn on Track Changes to print or PDF
    • Turn off Track Changes then save or send the file.

I have tried the last two and both work.

    Dear @Ronald de los Santos,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how disruptive it can be, especially when heading numbering is important for your document structure. This is a known issue in Word for Microsoft 365, where heading numbering may disappear after applying a Style Separator and many users have reported this issue. The Word product team is currently investigating the behavior.

In the meantime, I recommend the following:

Option 1: Report the issue directly from Word using Help > Feedback > Report a problem, so it reaches the product team with diagnostic details.

Option 2: If you are using a work or school account, please also reach out to your IT administrator and ask them to report the issue through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, which helps increase visibility and priority.

Submitting the report this way allows Microsoft Support to investigate it in the correct tenant context and route it to the appropriate product team.

    • Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center at https://admin.microsoft.com, and sign in with an admin account.
    • In the left-hand navigation of the admin center, go to Health > Service health, or select the Service health card on the Home dashboard.
    • Selecting Report an issue, and completing the short form
    • For reference: How to check Microsoft 365 service health

For now, it may be necessary to wait for an official fix or further update from Microsoft. If I receive any updates, guidance, or confirmation of a resolution from Microsoft, I will reach out to you as soon as possible to share the latest information.

Note: Please understand that as forum moderators, our primary goal is to provide helpful guidance and support to the correct supporting channels. While we don’t have access to internal systems or administrative tools required to resolve account-specific or backend issues, we truly appreciate your understanding of these limitations

I hope this information is helpful. Your satisfaction is our priority; I and Microsoft appreciate the opportunity to improve. If you have any further concerns or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly.
