How do I block McAfee & Norton popups when using Microsoft Edge

When using Edge to browse the internet, popups supposedly from McAfee & Norton are destroying my ability to navigate. I have tried blocking these popups as I do not use either of these products and do not wish to. This is my 3rd attempt to get help with this problem and so far, no solution has been forthcoming. This is so disturbing, I am considering purchasing an Apple MacBook as I understand they do not have as many problems as Microsoft windows machines.

    Hi Paul Anderson,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. I'm happy to help.

Regarding your information, it seems you were seeing ads on the website you visit.

Do you see those ads if you visit the same page on another browser?

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi,

Are they showing up as desktop notification banners? If so, this is usually caused by a third-party app installed, extensions in your browser, or websites that are allowed to send you these notifications. Since you're using Edge, check **Settings > **Privacy, search, and services > Site permissions > All permissions > Notifications and remove the websites under the Allowed section and see if it fixes the problem.

To block McAfee and Norton pop-ups in Microsoft Edge, you can follow these steps:

    1. Open Microsoft Edge.
    2. Access Settings: Click on the three dots (More) in the upper right corner and select Settings.
    3. Privacy, Search, and Services: Navigate to the Privacy, search, and services section.
    4. Notifications: Scroll down to the Site permissions section and click on Notifications.
    5. Manage Allowed Sites: Look for the Allow section. Here, you may see websites that are allowed to send notifications. If you notice any suspicious or unknown sites (like those related to McAfee or Norton), click the three dots next to them and select Remove or Block.
    6. Disable Notifications: You can also toggle off the option that says Ask before sending to prevent any website from requesting permission to send notifications in the future.

If the pop-ups persist even after these adjustments, it might be due to malicious browser extensions. You should check for any extensions that you do not recognize and remove them accordingly.
