    Hi Usha M,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

When Copilot works fine in the browser but doesn’t respond from the Windows taskbar, it usually indicates a local app or device configuration issue.

Here are some possible troubleshooting steps that you can consider trying in this situation:

    1, Reinstall the Copilot app

    • Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps
    • Search for Copilot, uninstall it
    • Restart your device
    • Open Microsoft Store, search for Copilot, and reinstall

2, Confirm the account used in the Copilot app

    • Launch Copilot from the Start menu
    • Check the profile icon and make sure you’re signed in with the same account that works on Copilot web
    • If unsure, sign out and sign back in
    • Pin it to the taskbar again after it opens successfully

If your device is managed by an organization, your IT admin can help verify that Copilot is allowed and not restricted.

If the Copilot in your taskbar is not responding while it works in the normal web, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check Licensing: Ensure that you are assigned a license that supports Microsoft 365 Copilot. If you have recently been assigned a new license, it may take some time to propagate.
    2. Account Conflicts: Make sure you are not signed in with both a personal account and a work or school account simultaneously, as this can cause validation issues.
    3. Internet Connectivity: Verify that your internet connection is stable, as connectivity issues can prevent Copilot from functioning properly.
    4. Privacy Settings: Check if Copilot is blocked by your organization's privacy settings. You may need to adjust these settings to allow Copilot to work.
    5. Update Channel: Ensure that your organization is using the Current Channel or Monthly Enterprise Channel for updates, as Copilot is not supported on the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel.
    6. Device-Based Licensing: Confirm that you are using a user-based license, as Copilot is not available with device-based licensing.
    7. Restart and Update: Since you have already restarted your system and checked for updates, ensure that your Office applications are fully updated as well.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your Microsoft 365 admin or Microsoft support for further assistance.
